The Shell is an observational documentary that sequences a number of individuals and their awakening perspectives on what it means to exist in a body. The subjects include a young man with a skin disease, a skateboarder who makes countless attempts to land a trick, a Catholic penitent who carries a heavy bundle of thorns through a holy week procession in Mexico, a woman who makes the decision to have a natural childbirth, and a disembodied consciousness floating through Los Angeles.
